The combination of high-elevation (3,971 feet), wind-exposed openings at the summit, and magnesium-rich soils make it unlike any place else in the Commonwealth.

The Floyd Artisan Trail June Tour is a 2-day tour featuring sites across Floyd County with activities at artisan home studios; galleries and shops; farms and farm markets; and restaurant and lodging sites.

The Friday Night Jamboree attracts visitors from all over the world to experience the joy of the Appalachian traditions.
